This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This is a just a dead, little hatchling. Nothing to see here, really. Only a dried, withered corpse.

Its true that travelers and visitors to the cave where the corpse is found sometimes think they see the body move, just out of the corner of their eye. But that's silly. Dead hatchlings can't move—it's ridiculous to think otherwise. And they certainly don't come alive to drink blood.
