Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to bear some semblance to a horse.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Behold, seeker of the dragon lore, M'Tussix of the Horse dragons. He suffers from the frozen hatchling syndrome and it is unclear whether this is due to the fact of his mixed breeding or his mother's inexperience as he was her first hatchling (or foal) ever. As his father was a Black dragon, he is rather wilder and fiercer than Horse dragons usually are as a breed. He seems to have excellent night vision as well, also heritage of his father's blood. If he had grown up, he would possibly have been quite a dominant male. When his father was chased off, his mother's new mate accepted him instantly for reasons unknown and he has stayed with them and their new hatchlings ever since. Sometimes his mother has to stop him from playing to roughly with his younger siblings, though.
