Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It hatched with fins instead of legs and did not seem to react well to freshwater, so you relocated it to the nearest ocean.

Its dorsal fin has grown larger, and it rarely surfaces anymore. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This Hatchling was named for the Indonesian word for "abyss". He's a bit of a sheltered little Dragon, since he's never met any Dragons other than the Deep Seas he spends most of his time with. He's been warned against venturing too far the surface; the older Dragons constantly tell him it's a dangerous place. However, like most Hatchlings, he's very curious, and dreams of the day he'll be able to join one of the ventures to shallower water that the older Dragons regularly take.
