Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Volatilis is one of the most carefree dragons of his kind. He is viable to let anything go, even if it was a serious offense. People and dragons alike respect his ability to forgive with such ease, a thing which is rare among some species of dragons. His name means Winged Sky, and he was named for his sky-blue color and beautiful wings. He enjoys doing aerial tricks, including corkscrews and loop-the-loops. One of Vol's favorite stunts is free-falling from impossibly high heights, corkscrewing down and gaining velocity by the second. At the last minute he pulls up and pulls in his wings, doing flips unaided by flight. At last he opens his wings and resumes his show. He also likes to perform for his friends when he isn't practicing or racing.
