Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ghihe was a wild huntress who terrorized villages nestled among a network of fjords. The inhabitants of that land had no knowledge of the massive underwater caverns connecting their deep, isolated lakes and long, winding inlets. It was the only home she had ever known, since the day she hatched.

Years of her young life passed thus, but gradually Ghihe came to find that her home was scarce of food. The countryside's inhabitants had fled, leaving her with naught but a few fish to keep her from starvation, and those were found only after long hunts in the dark or, worse, close to the surface where the light sometimes shone. And she knew no way out.

There she was rescued by a Gray dragon who led her through waterways he could see from the sky, sheltering her with low clouds. The charming dragon was Azeryx Stormweaver, and it was not long before the two grew mutually attached.

Ghihe swims now in the waters near Azeryx's home, and she teaches their children the secret ways of the deep.
