Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

The egg from which this tasty fellow hatched was found by a group of rather horrified cheese makers in a remote creamery somewhere in Somerset, and was duly dumped in a nearby cave—due to the length of time he spent in the creamery and the ideal maturation conditions in the cave, he acquired the taste and aroma of the best local cheddar, and small salt deposits characteristic of that cheese can be found on the surface of his skin. He now hides in Captain Fudge Sundae's villa to avoid those who think he would taste rather good on crackers.
