When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Harbringer of Barbeque—or Harbeque for short—has the oddest hobby for a water dwelling dragon imaginable: he likes to grill stuff. Deer, boar, salmon, or even cheese—to him it's not edible if it hasn't been put over a nice open fire first. Harbeque loves to invite other (mostly land dwelling) dragons over to the shore of his lake to participate in the exquisite food he prepares daily, and in the long warm summer evenings he always has a large company. During the cool autumn months though he gets lonelier and lonelier until the first snow falls, when winter sets in. Then Harveque works all alone on his delicious treats, using all his skill and a bit of magic to keep the fire going.
