Carmine Wyverns are active predators found most commonly in tropical regions. They have a poor sense of smell and are primarily dependent on sight and sound to hunt. These dragons are lightweight and quick, and tend to flee from rivals rather than attempt to fight. When a confrontation does occur it usually involves large amounts of posturing and displaying to make the wyverns appear larger and stronger than their opponents, and one will often surrender and leave without a fight ever actually occurring. They are dedicated parents and usually mate for life, though the degree of loyalty to a partner varies between individuals and within individual pairings.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Flasheye has been trying to deal with mysteries ever since he was very young. He's proclaimed himself the 'Ultimate Detective of Crimson Island' and insists that he can crack any case. The only problem is that he's not the sharpest claw in the cave and it's rare that he can ever come upon a solution, much less the correct one.

He did realize this one day, and so set off to find the smartest dragons on the island to help him with his cases, finding plenty of dragons who were ready to help. (What he didn't realize was that most of them were also quite dim-witted, but he didn't care.) He and his band of questionable detectives now go around trying to solve mysteries, which usually is just Flasheye screeching at people until they give him a mystery to solve. Only the newest dragons on the island ever enlist in his help, not knowing of his inability to solve puzzles. The result: a mess of Flasheye's screeches and the new dragon's whines.
