Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Golden Scribe is a scribe who works for a royal family. She writes documents of recent events, to be stored away as records of history. She supports truth, but she is forced to write only what the royals want her to write; good things about them, bad things about their enemies. She treats her work as more creative writing than true history, because of how glorified the stories are, and how many are made up. Apart from the occasional annoyance of royals dropping in and trying to tell her how to do her job, she's quite happy with her life, and would like to stay working in the castle for as long as she lives.
