Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When James arrived at the cave the first thing he saw was another lonely whiptail dragon, a female named Veritas.  As he walked up to introduce himself her eyes sprang to life and she circled him and asked him many questions.  This was the first time she had ever met anyone of her kind and by many she was seen as jumpy and somewhat annoying because of her breed.  It wasn't long before they both raced almost daily, with James usually winning flight races and Veritas winning running races.  After having known each other for a few years they slowly fell in love as well and they became slightly less hyper, although no one has ever seen them sit still comfortably for more than a few minutes.  Despite being some of the most active dragons at the cave they are also regarded as some of the most responsible and dependent dragons as well.
