Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blackfang is well known for his amazing escape from the cave which prompted his master to write the famous legend.

The monster did what no other had done before. He escaped miraculously, dodging every obstacle and slaying every enemy in his path. He took flight on his great red wings, soaring over the island, and casting dark shadows over everything below. Mother dragons tried to hide their eggs, but to no avail. The great monster swooped down and bit them all. Most were killed, but a few of them became monsters themselves. Then the Queen of Darkness (8MVj) was summoned to defend the island. She overtook the monster with a sword of emerald fire. The vampire was finally injured and he surrendered. He was taken back to the cave by the black dragon colony and thrust back down to the dark, bloody chamber, where he belonged.
