Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The younger twin brother of Sklad, Himig grew up alongside his brother in the cave belonging to the human girl named Flight, near the Lake of Elgar in the Mountains of Elgar. Out of the Twin Carols, Himig is the light-hearted brother and his name means "Melody". Himig is known for being over dramatic, often panicking over the simplest things only to laugh at himself later on. His brother, Sklad, never finds this amusing. As a hatchling his favorite time of day was just before bed, when Flight would sit down with the hatchlings on her lap and sing Christmas Carols to them while they watched the sun light up the sky in shades of orange and yellow before slowly disappear over the horizon. As an adult, Himig lives with Sklad in a cave on Kireki, the tallest Mountain of Elgar. Outside the cave, everyday, a different song can be heard, coming from within the cave. On Christmas day, both Himig and Sklad leave their home and travel the world, sharing their songs with the world.
