Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Peaceful and serene, Elpis Astraea is the image of hope and at the same time the image of justice. If Azure Lazurite is the "older brother" of the brood then Elpis is the "older sister" of the group. Whenever there is conflict between the dragons, she is the one that steps in and mediates the argument. While some of her brood mates find her to be a bit dull, boring, and a pushover, the smart ones know better than to cross her. Elpis is sharp and won't hesitate to show anyone just how swift justice can be if a dragon breaks the rules, toes the line, or hurts one of their brood mates.

Although Elpis gets along with all of her brood mates, she's best friends with Azure Lazurite, Shui Huying, and Twilight Goldenglow. Of the younger dragons, she has a fondness for Niveus Hyacinthus for his quiet nature and would take him under her wing if the other dragon's rambunctious nature becomes too much for him.
