Balloon Dragons are so named because they are filled with a gas that makes them almost lighter than air, similar to balloons. However, they are not prone to bursting, as they are covered in tough skin and can deflate themselves if necessary. In addition, they generally are slow moving. They use their gas bladders to float to the tops of trees, where food is more abundant. They can shift their weight from their backs to their fronts, allowing them to reach leaves and fruit.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Daybreak is a fat(thanks to her breed), happy-go-lucky Balloon Dragon. Others tend to tease her due to her appearance, but she seems to be totally oblivious to this. Bouncing around cheerfully, she is friendly to ALMOST everyone she meets. Some particular dragons- or humans alike- seem to get on Daybreak's nerves. Her full, given name used to be Snowy Daybreak. Her mother had named her this, but after discovering her child was a Balloon Dragon, she got furious and abandoned the hatchling. Her mother, being an Albino Dragon, had despised all Balloon Dragons, apparently, which is why it is quite odd she mated with one to produce Daybreak and her one Albino brother, Albinosmoothness.

Daybreak has bred with SparkiiLegend, an Electric Dragon, to give birth to one egg, and to Call Me Classy, a Magi Dragon, to have another. She has only one living child. Her and Classy's egg was stolen from her cave, and it ended up dying in the hands of the thief. Yet her and Sparkii's child lives on.
