Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bearing Mir's own personal colours, by coincidence or design, Arhou acts as her presence among the Virus Horde. The deep cherry-red of his eyes, tinted with a hint of violet, matches the look of her own so closely that one wonders if she didn't have a hand in weaving his very body and soul together, or else imbuing her own personal mark upon his spirit. High-ranked among the dragons of the Horde by virtue of this, he weaves through the pack with steps light as cats' paws, movements precise and sinuous, keeping a deliberate eye upon all present. Even when he seems not to be there, strange shadows will cast themselves over the dragons' sleeping quarters, and they will fall still and silent as if he walked among them in flesh; their eyes faintly glazed, as if recalling distant memories.
