Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

What a strange transaction it had been.

She remembered it well; freshly hatched, in the company of several other dragons of her tender age, watching as two humans shook hands and swapped them off. A shining egg was given to the person who had carried her there, while she went home with the other. Seeing as she had presumably just acquired a new caretaker of their own violation, she fancied she'd be well loved.

She was incorrect.

The three others with whom she had been arrived were given a suitable amount of attention, but she was ignored. No, that wasn't entirely true. Sometimes she was looked at, but darkly, her pedigree papers looked at again and again with always a scowl of frustration on the human's face. Or, sometimes, something more vicious than frustration.

Now an adult, the dragon has tried to stay quietly out of her owner's sight. She still doesn't know what made the sorceress detest her so, but she fears any provocation might spell her swift death...
