Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This gentle dragon is revered as a spirit of mercy by the residents of one small town, and for good reason. One day, many years past, a storm of unrivaled size and ferocity came bearing down upon the hapless village, threatening to destroy everything in a squall of water and lightning. That, however, was when this Sunsong appeared; a sudden light through the clouds, wings spread protectively over the town below, and with that simple gesture the storm dissipated. The Sunsong vanished shortly after, leaving the residents to marvel at what they had just seen. The truth, however, lies in what they did not see; the gentle Sunsong is the mate of a Thunder dragon, and at seeing the town's plight she begged he end the squall with his weather magic, a request he did not hesitate to grant. Even now the pair still pass over the town on occasion, hidden from sight behind the clouds, keeping a protective eye on the tiny village.
