This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shepard is a dragon unlike any other. A fierce warrior and protector of the weak from the start, she carved out her place in history fighting a cult of dragons who employed ancient, destructive magics to destroy the world in order to make it anew according to their desires. Shepard would not stand for this, and she gathered together a crew of remarkable dragons from all species. She resorted to violence only when necessary, more often able to win over others with just her words and reputation. The battles were many and fierce, Shepard herself taking more than her share of scars... and in the end, she knew that it would be up to her to end the threat once and for all. The last raid, a fight with Nazara, the cult's leader, was devastating to say the least. Her team escaped the crumbling temple... but no one ever saw if Shepard escaped the ruin, and to this day, most simply think of her as dead.

Some, however, say she has hidden herself far away, perhaps even found a new world to guard...
