When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A blink, and something seems to shift under the surface. Upon taking a closer look, nothing seems out of the ordinary. However, when the full moon is high in the sky, an elegant head rises from the inky depths. Wise black eyes stare at the shining white orb hanging in the black firmament, almost as if reading a hidden meaning no one else notices. Silently and gracefully the snakelike body moves through the water, in a dance meant for no one but the moon and stars. Delicately curved fins churn the water around the sea serpent, making sophisticated designs before everything seems to freeze for just a second. The water ripples softly once more, and a few leaves swirl on the almost smooth surface of the deep pond, the only evidence of the mystery that just occurred.
