Terrae Dragons are primarily herbivores who prefer to eat from the tops of trees. However, due to their massive size, they must rely on small, specialized scales to absorb and convert energy from the sun. Since they live in tightly-knit groups, this form of energy absorption helps preserve the forests in which these dragons reside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ulsayak had become separated from his group when the war had first started. He had no idea how it had started or what had happened but he suddenly found himself alone with no one to keep him company. Being a dragon who was used to being surrounded by other dragons of his own species he found his new loneliness to be too much and started hanging around with dragons that enjoyed the idea of throwing him into fights. Ulsayak quickly gained in strength but lost his right eye and the use of his right wing in a battle against a male Ember dragon. Although he does not participate in the war, he is often seen readying himself for a fight that his 'friends' have arranged for him.
