Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Galrean is a very reserved Day Glory Drake. He will take small crumbs of food from people's hands, but only if they have taken the time to earn his trust enough for this to happen. At the first indication of danger he will, with a flick of his radiant wings, disappear into the glare of the sun so that those wishing him ill cannot see him. He is also very active, with an attention span that can be longer than a star's life or shorter than a goldfish's, which means that he can usually be found flitting from one activity to the next as his interest wanders from object to object.
