Waterhorse Dragons received their name due to their horse-like physique and endearing behavior. They are capable of surviving out of water, and when on land their skin secretes a gelatinous goo to retain moisture. However, their large paddle feet are better suited for swimming, and waterhorse dragons tend to move very awkwardly when on land. Waterhorses are very friendly dragons and enjoy playing with humans.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sliderz, named after his mother, Slipperz, never much liked hanging out with his own kind. Yes he enjoys the water. Yes he did like to play with other Waterhorse Dragons. But he always longed to live among the Land Horses. Land Horses was the name that his kind gave the Horse Dragons. Sliderz admired their speed and grace. Ever since he was a little hatchling, he wished that he could fly with them. One day he got a crazy idea. He left the water and approached the Valley Herd- a group of Horse Dragons who live outside of the Cove, where the Waterhorses live. They thought he was strange, but they all got along and quickly accepted Sliderz into their Herd. He lives with them now. During the day he runs with them on the Land. At night, he sleeps in the Cove's shallow waters with the other Waterhorses. He may not be able to fly, but he is still able to keep up with the Horse Dragons when they are in flight. Sliderz is a fast runner. He is never happier than when he's with the Valley Herd.
