Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Noagh is definitely a spontaneous, funny, optimistic individual. He loves people, and everybody hopefully loves Noagh. One of his greatest gifts is his general acceptance of everyone. He is upbeat and enthusiastic, and genuinely likes almost everybody. Noagh is unfailingly warm and generous with his friends, and generally treats everyone as a friend. However, once crossed, Noagh is likely to make a very strong and stubborn judgment against the person who crossed him. He is capable of deep dislike in such a situation. Noagh is very practical, although he hates structure and routine. He likes to "go with the flow", trusting in his ability to improvise in any situation presented to him. He learns best with "hands-on" experience, rather than by studying. He is uncomfortable with theory. He often wonders why Dorsal dragons can be purple or red but not blue, since blue and red make purple. Noagh not only uses his fins to regulate body temperature, he also uses them to look bigger.
