Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Yamir is a son of Masayuki and Mitsuko. He was raised alongside his brother Tiqvah, as well as his younger brother Nux-me, and his baby sister Edna. They all arrived in the colony together as hatchlings, looking out for each other, until their parents found them and took them in. Yamir's name means "To Change" in Hebrew.
