Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Elyssa is a Tri-Coloured Snow Angel dragon who seems to spend most of the year in deep hibernation in one of the deepest recesses of the cave. She is rarely seen or heard throughout the year, as her nest is well-hidden to those who don't know where to look for it, but comes out during the winter months to play with the other dragons and care for the hatchlings. Elyssa and her mate, Sugarbon the Sweetling, use the end of December and the middle of February to breed. Sadly, while Elyssa can see and meet her daughters for a short while, she returns to her slumber too early each year to witness most of her sons hatching and growing up.
