Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Opal was named after the gemstone, a beautiful name befitting a Lumina dragon. Just like any Lumina dragon, Opal must surround herself with beautiful items. She especially likes opals, being named after them and tries to collect as many as she can (when she's not preening herself of course). However, her collection of opals isn't very large as she will discard it if she thinks there's so much of a defect (that isn't part of the natural beauty of an opal); her collection of opals must be almost as perfect as her.
