Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It gives off a glow that lights up the cave.

Look, it’s grown frills, and the glow around it has become even brighter.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tahmuras wants to be as brave as his father, and pretends to defend his fellow hatchlings from frighting foes, like the rabbit that keeps wandering into their yard, or the crows that fly around outside their cave.  He loves to play with his sister, and the two of them will often go to the nearby spring to splash in the water, and try to hunt fish with the Water hatchling who lives there.  They are both much admired by the rest of the clan for their beauty and good manners.
