Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

This is so because when he was just a small hatchling, he was cursed. He was cursed so that he would only be able to mate with a Red Dorsal. One day, Genevive finally got up the nerve to ask him to be her lover, but he had to refuse.He told her about the curse,and she understood. A couple of days later, Princess Pierce, the most respected princess of the clan, asked Swamp Prince if he would mate with her dearest granddaughter, PizzaSauce. Swamp Prince told her about the curse and the princess said that she would ask Amber Princess,the Magi dragon, to lift the curse. When they asked Amber, she said that she could only lift it for an hour. So that was that. Swamp Prince couldn't refuse the order. When Genevive found out about the egg they had produced, she was enraged! She was so angry, that she bit the egg.
