Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Itatchi is in short-terms a narcissist.  He thinks mostly about himself and he spends hours a day to make sure his scares sparkle.  He often considers himself the most beautiful dragon in the cave and will close his eyes if he is in the presence of, what he calls, mega-ugliness so he does not stain his eyes with such ugly visions.  So far, the only creatures who deserve this treatment are dinos as he calls them "mutations of nature" and refuses to be near them.  However, he will become friends with beautiful dragons and is unbelievably loyal to his friends (he has more loyalty than just about anyone else in the cave).  Overall, it is debatable whether his loyalty outweighs his narcissism.
