Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Loyal follower of his leader, 2000 Years, Faithful Shadow is aptly named. He often accompanies 2000 Years when the latter ventures out either on his various ramblings or for official occasions. Faithful Shadow's services as a bodyguard are somewhat redundant, since 2000 Years—a storm dragon—is more than capable of his own defense, but he does appreciate Faithful Shadow's company from time to time, and the black dragon has shown himself astute at judging his leader's moods.<br/>More frequently, however, Faithful Shadow may be observed spending his time with the hoi polloi of his group of dragons. He is somewhat given to sloth, and may often be found sunning himself in the company of Whispering Spy—a stone dragon. Although not much of an intellectual, he sometimes debates the various merits and drawbacks of aggression and pacifism with the white dragon Eternal Spirit.
