Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bian Zi Ta (Whip Pagoda) is the first of his kind in Lao Tai's subcave and the first male dragon. From first hatching, he gets puffed up in his own importance, bossing poor Bo He Ta and even his own hatch-brother, Pao Mo Nai You, around. He loves being in a smaller cave because without a lot of eggs lying around it means he can get a running start to leap out of the front entrance and soar over the river and dance around the bluffs pocked with subcaves. Luckily for his cavemates, he spends far more time out of the cave than in it.
