Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vanya Truearrow is an extremely vain dragon. He is constantly preening, making sure his petals are all the prettiest they can be; he plucks out any petal that has even a hint of wilt on it. His high opinion of his hunting skill is well earned: he can kill even the tiniest prey from a great distance and can take down larger prey with a single precisely aimed blast of magic. Unfortunately, his vanity is also well satisfied: most of the dragons in the clan think he is very beautiful and many of the females like it when he shakes his wings, showering them in petals. Since a good rain makes his petals fuller and brighter, he often taunts Melkeya just to make him angry enough to send a storm after him. Then he prances about, further taunting by showing the storm dragon how his anger does nothing but make Vanya look even better. Vanya is quite adept at avoiding the lightning and gale winds this further taunting earns him.
