Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vive is an extremely benevolent bronze Tinsel Dragon, usually accompanying his master and allowing Mith to ride on his bronze back, flying throughout Galsreim as he and Mith collect eggs all over rather than indulging in his own splendour as a Tinsel Dragon. Because of this, he is regarded as a kind dragon, being amiable to both dragons and humans alike. Due to Mith's caregiving to Vive as a child, Vive prefers cooked food and always refuses (politely) on the offer of raw meat, making a few of Mith's other dragon refer to him as a "human in dragon form."
