Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Howlithema PaintedWing (after the gemstone: Howlite) joined the clan cave as its 205th member, rescued by The Clan Mother early one drizzly spring morning long before the crack of dawn. She is an excitable dragon who takes great joy in the small pleasures of life, and abhors violence, removing herself from conflict whenever possible. As a hatchling, she spent much of her time in the company of a small group of human children who visited the clan cave for a time, and together they enjoyed hour after hour of fun and games. One day, the group was introduced to the concept of painting, and it didn't take long for one of them to compare the brush strokes to her vivid and bright striped scales. In a spirit of friendly amusement, the still young hatchling allowed the youngsters to add to her coloration, thus gluing her name to her for all time. She is proud of the story, even after the passing of time, and sometimes encourages those very same humans to once again renew her painted wing.
