Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Frostrune flew over this innocent hatchling, and snatched him in her talons. Frostrune flew back to Lenapet's clan camp and showed him to Lenapet. Lenapet nodded, and suddenly Lenapet's Slave felt a cold chill creep from Frostrune's talons.

This poor hatchling was captured and frozen during a time of need in Lenapet's clan. All black hatchlings were to be frozen and assigned a master. Lenapet got this hatchling as a slave, but only uses him occasionally as a slave and more as a companion.
