Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its belly is bright red and it is most active in the evening.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Darj was cursed by one of Dark Shado's magi dragons. He wandered around, hungry and alone until he found Sunet. She took him in, taught him how to fly and hunt. When he was finally old enough to leave, he flew away but came right back. He had grown to love her and they stayed together.

Two years later Sunet and Darj were attacked by one of Dark Shado's warriors. They both fought bravely and killed the enemy warrior. Jabarl saw what had happened and brought Darj and Sunet to Valariana, the Queen, and she offered them a home in her castle and a place in her army. They both gratiously accepted.
