Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Yuzeku is in the first line of defense against hostile intruders of Tender Talon's home. If one of the others in the security group alert her, she goes to investigate. A hostile intruder has different hormones running through its blood than that of a non-hostile one. That in turn causes a distinct scent; if Yuzeku smells it she pounces. Despite being able to use magic, she has no control over it and every attempt she has made at using it causes an explosion. She has chosen Jajakk as an unwilling teacher to train her in using magic, but all their lessons end in explosions that always need Jajakk's magic to be cleaned up. Her mate is Ystir and despite his greater skill at magic she has stubbornly stuck to Jajakk as her teacher.
