Swallowtail Dragons are graceful and quick flyers, much like their namesake bird. They are capable of precise aerial acrobatics, and can reach very high altitudes. Because of this, humans observing these dragons are often astonished at how large they are when confronted up close. A Swallowtail’s diet consists of insects and small mammals plentiful in temperate forests. These dragons are also made remarkable by their paper-thin wing membranes, which allow light to pass through, creating an astonishing effect on starry nights.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Avian Skye is the mate to Giver of Loneliness, and her son is Ceylose.

Avian Skye was narcissistic and self-absorbed. She could often be found by a puddle, admiring her own reflection. When the reflection or Avian Skye herself was disturbed, she lashed out at the perpetrator, be it a dragon or a stick. When she wasn't at the puddle, she was roaming about in the harem about how she was "much more developed" and "high-class", which lead many dragons to ignore her. Giver of Loneliness took Avian Skye as a mate to tame her by shaking her when she attempted to sleep, and denying her of all her meals. This caused her ego to shatter, degenerating Avian Skye into a nervous and self-doubting dragon. She has attempted to escape Giver of Loneliness in the past with no success. These attempts became less frequent as Avian Skye's health deteriorated.
