Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aurelen is a large golden dragon, with bright scales that shimmer in the sunlight. He can often be found just outside of the cave, staring up at the sky as if he were looking for something. And anyone who knew him well enough would know that he's looking for his mate, Capala. The gray dragon is always flying out of sight as soon as she is allowed to every day, faster than any of the other dragons can fly or catch up to her. No one knows where she disappears to for hours on end, and it worries Aurelen greatly. He loves her, but he knows there's no way to stop her behavior without her snapping at him even more than she usually does because of her bad temper.
