The large and imposing Avarice Dragon is named for its infamous and seemingly insatiable desire to build a collection of a single item. Though there appears to be no formula for how these dragons decide what thing in particular they will hoard, anything related to their object of desire is coveted to the extreme—the Avarice Dragon has no qualms with enacting violence over these items, including with their own kin. There is substantial variety to these collections, from the quintessential gold plated treasure to rare gemstones, scrolls of knowledge, delicate glasswork, metal constructs, and more. Much of their time is spent tending to their collections and protecting them from thieves or ne’erdowells, thus Avarice Dragons have little use for casual socialization. An Avarice Dragon may be persuaded to part with a piece out of their collection if offered something of higher value—but be forewarned, as these dragons are very clever and often devise deals to benefit themselves at the expense of others, so it is not recommended to seek out treasures of an Avarice unless as a last resort.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation.
