When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Hydyrus is a very brave dragon, and loves young hatch-lings. Most dragons look up to him, for he is the leader of MoonClan. When he first made MoonClan, he was worried that he wouldn't be able to defend his clan because he had to live in water. He eventually found a large island for the clan to live on. The center of the camp has a pool of water that he can go under the island to get to it. Some dragons think it's odd that him and Ambila are mates since they are so different. He is close to the earth, and she is high in the sky. Nothing will break the bond between them.
