Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Heatblow is a proud warrior from MagmaClan. He lives in a cave in the volcano and is resistant to fire. He likes to watch flames burning for hours without doing anything else. (His mother is a daydream.) He can't spit fire, but his breath is hot and easy flammable. He takes care of the eggs from MagmaClan, blowing at them from time to time.

He doesn't really move out of the cave, he is always busy with the eggs. He likes it in the volcano because it's comfortably warm.

He likes fireworks. The few times he has left the cave were on human new-year parties. He sat on the top of the volcano and watched the coloured skies.
