Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bougu was wandering by herself in the quiet winter woods one evening.  She pushed through a dense clump of bushes and nearly stepped in a nest of shining golden eggs that looked like Christmas ornaments.  A sniff of the air told her that the mother of the clutch had not been there for some time, so she put two on her tail shield and carried them back to the cave.  Houshuku is one of the two that was born of that fortuitous finding, and her name means "celebration."  She and her sister are responsible for the general uplifting of spirits as the holidays approach. While they are not terribly useful as fighters, hunters or guardians, the community at large still appreciates what they contribute.
