Frilled Dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the “best” frills being more likely to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The dragon Frillentrio is the ancient matriarch of the Paradox clan, though most wouldn't think so at first glance. She spends much of her time trying to avoid her clanmates, instead of taking an active position in their lives like her mate. She tends to be very irritable and snaps at even minor provocations; Most hatchlings fear her, and even adults would be hesitant to cross her. But her position becomes clear when one sees the clan is threatened, because it is then that she leaps into action. Despite her breed's generally dislike of confrontation, she is the one who leads their warriors into battle. She knows when to charge ahead and when to flee to live another day, and she has a talent for intimidating their enemies with her shriek-like battle cry. In spite of, or perhaps because of, her age, this old dragon is still as fierce as ever, but when not fighting she generally prefers to simply spend her time napping in the cave she shares with her loving mate.
