Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Xyrilun was born next to a forest and considered any place that had trees to be his home. He was curious and loved roaming about, eating where there was fruit to find and sunbathing wherever he found a large enough rock.

One time while sunbathing in a meadow, he was startled awake by a loud crashing sound. He quickly awoke and, driven by curiosity, checked out the sound. It seemed that, quite hilariously, a female Terrae Dragon had awkwardly fallen out of the trees. She was stunned but unhurt, and after Xyrilun playfully teased her for a minute, she recovered and asked for introductions.

Her name was Giarlith, and the two got along immediately. He would always find some strange adventure, such as following passing humans or looking for the legendary "Ocean Land", and if they got lost or into trouble, Giarlith would use wit (or force, as she was larger than Xyrilun) to get them out and home again. They became close friends for life.
