Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

I wish I had been a male. Not a flattering name, but it well describes this dragon's sentiments. Descended from the distinguished silver tinsel Prize, the young tinsel wished nothing more than to follow in its father's footsteps and continue a beautiful line with their own Ice mate. However, that was not to be. By some strange trick of fate, which not even a Pink's influence could change, the tinsel gendered female. Tradition broken, her chance of continuing the lineage forever lost, this tinsel will forever curse her luck, and watch in envy as other tinsels in the clan enjoy their statuses as properly gendered tinsels. Alone, outcast, she yearns for the day her life will end.

All is not lost, however, for a small shred of hope still lingers deep in her heart. Perhaps someday she will meet a mate, another misgendered tinsel—or even another breed of dragon—who also shares her despair. Then, just maybe, from their joint misery something more might be born. Perhaps even...love
