Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Tarsenteren was only made as a sick joke. When the giant piece of Swiss cheese rose up in the form of a dragon, his creator laughed. And on that night, his creator fell at the claws of his own cheese. But before he left the small hut that was his creator's workshop, he happened to see just a part of himself in a mirror. Aside from the bloody claws and fangs, he felt ashamed to be made of cheese! So he made a plan, a plan so he could hide his cheesy interior. When he hatched the perfect scheme, he set off to attack his first castle. But unlike greedy dragons who would just attack for the gold, Tarsenteren was after the knight's armor. After about five years of castle-wrecking sprees, he had enough metal and chain mail to hide the fact that he was made of cheese. However; now most of Europe was after him. So his only chance was to hijack a ship and sail for somewhere they'd never find him. Eventually he shipwrecked on a previously undiscovered shore. Talk about Luck.
