Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

ExDav carries her name as a reminder (or so she believes) of her previous life. While dragons rarely die of old age, there are many other ways one can meet death. ExDav believes in a prior life she was a Two-Headed Dragon. Or at least one of the two minds. She cannot recall much due to the agony of having dealt with "Dav" (the other head).

What she does remember is a life crippled with constant arguments and petty refusals to cooperate. When she could tolerate it no longer, she waited for Dav to "fall asleep" to spite her for wanting to move. Having positioned herself near the cliff's edge, ExDav tied a heavy boulder around her neck. After swallowing a deadly poison, she shoved the boulder off the cliff to drag her entire body into the crashing waves below.

ExDav knows the price for her suicide is that she will spend this life utterly alone and always feeling as if she is missing part of herself. But she is so happy to be free she chooses to honor her actions as her namesake.
