Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s a brilliant blue-green color.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hope is, or rather was, her last remnant of her previous life. She, having fallen into a pit of depravity, can no longer understand any form of communication- that is, assuming others aren't poised in an attacking position. She can only vocalize small squeaks, which humans interpret as begging. They call her a singer of hope, yet she cannot properly speak.
