Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very brightly colored and enjoys splashing in puddles.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Waves of Change is related to Waves of Destiny, his mother. Her name means his name. He is among the frozen hatchlings in his clan. He plays with hatchlings younger than him but will become adults. Being a frozen hatchling means that they could play and frolic long after those that are even younger than them has become adults. The young adults have more jobs to do than a frozen hatchling because even though a frozen hatchling can be a century old, they are still hatchlings.

His best friend is a Tsunami Wyvern just like him. And like him, she is a frozen hatchling. Her name is Changing Waves. She too, is related to his mother. Except for her, Waves of Destiny is a grandparent. The two of them are basically cousins. Waves of Destiny was the first Tsunami Wyvern. All the others are her children and grandchildren and so on.
